Sergey Maximishin |1964 , Born in Kertch, Crimea

Sergey Maximishin investigates the problems and contradictions of everyday life in his country, with a watchful eye that is discreet and realistic. This photojournalist, originally from Russia, moved to Leningrad in 1982, and worked in the Soviet Military Force Group installed in Cuba between 1985 and 1987. A few years later, he graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute with a degree in physics, before gaining a second degree in photojournalism in 1998, and starting his career working for press agencies.

His photographs, uncompromising observations of the world, demonstrate Sergey Maximishin's sensitivity and humanity, and he has won numerous awards for their artistic content. He currently works for the German press agency Focus.
