Alex Prager |1979 , Born in Los Angeles, United States

Entirely self-taught, Alex Prager creates photographs that draw from different sources of inspiration, such as the feeling of unease in Hitchcock's films and Fellini's highly coloured sets, to give the work a powerful sense of melodrama. The artist constructs a refined aesthetic, rich in details from the American pop culture of the 1960s: heavily made up women placed in unnerving and dramatic settings.

Influenced by Cindy Sherman, Alex Prager lives and works in Los Angeles. Her photographs have been published in key magazines such as the New York Times, Vogue, W Magazine and Art in America; her work has been exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
