Leang Seckon |1974 , Born in Prey Veng, Cambodia

Following a childhood spent under the harsh regime of the Khmer Rouge, Leang Seckon today describes himself on his business card as a "freedom artist". Graduating from the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh in 2002, he is one of Cambodia's most well known artists, having conceived in 2008 The Rubbish Project, which aimed to raise the community's awareness of environmental issues surrounding the rise of mass tourism. Leang Seckon's art displays his preoccupation with social and political issues past and present, communicated using different techniques such as collages of recycled materials.

Living and working in Cambodia, he has participated in the Fukuoka Asian Art Triennale in 2009, and he regularly shows his work in London.
