Kai Wiedenhöfer |1966 , Born in Villingen-Schwenningen, Allemagne

Kai Wiedenhöfer has been interested in the Middle East since he was young. With a degree in photojournalism from the Folkwang-Hochschule art school in Essen, he also studied Arabic in Damascus, Syria. Between 1993 and 1994 he began travelling to Gaza, the Middle East, China and Africa.

For the last twenty years Kai Wiedenhöfer has almost exclusively photographed Gaza where he has lived intermittently.

The first winner of the Carmignac Gestion Photojournalism Award that had Gaza as its theme in 2009, Kai Wiedenhöfer returned to the Middle East to present to us a clinical inventory of the consequences of the war on the landscape and its people.
